No Water No Future

Global population has tripled in the past years while water use has grown six fold due to industrial development, widespread irrigation and lack of conservation.The water problem is getting worse as cities and population grow and the need for water increase in agriculture, industry and households. Our resources are limited and the supply of freshwater is theoretically always the same, in reality it is diminishing. The natural course of rivers, streams and lakes has been compromised by constructing of dams,creating diversions and industrial pollution. If as expected, the number of people on earth increases by more than a third to more than 8 billion by 2025, 40% more water will be needed and hence how we respond to today's water crises will determine whether we actually know how to survive or only know how to misuse a resource on which survival depends.

Drought/ water scarcity is one of the most common natural calamities in the world today and in many places it has happened due to the change in the climate. In India it is most prevalent in the states of Orissa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. There is so much that a person has to go through during such a calamity. It becomes difficult to fulfil the day to day basic requirements. Surviving through these difficult times becomes the main goal. For a person or a couple who is going through this, their love or the emotions becomes a secondary aspect and the struggle to get the basic amenities for survival becomes the primary objective in life. Emotional pain is usually hidden and all the hardships has to be faced by staying strong and believing that the " better days are yet to come".
